Cosa è la gentilezza? L’ho chiesto ai bambini, in biblioteca, in una mattina a lezione di “gentilezza”, in una biblioteca di un comune vicino alla mia città, Firenze. ”La gentilezza è un boomerang perché va e torna”. Un sorriso e una frase che arrivano dritti al cuore e rendono il senso della forza della gentilezza. Parole che mi ha lasciato una bambina e che mi porto dentro ogni giorno e che accompagnano un’idea che è diventata progetto. Perché non leggere e donare parole che fanno star bene sia chi le scrive che chi le riceve?
Nasce da questa riflessione, il 2 ottobre 2021, nel giorno della festa dei nonni, l’alfabeto della gentilezza. Parte dalle bambine e dai bambini.
È un progetto che vede la gentilezza come un gioco: ad ogni lettera dell’alfabeto si associa l’iniziale di una parola bella che alimenta la gentilezza all’interno della comunità, ad esempio Abbraccio, Bacio, Carezza ecc. L’obiettivo è di sensibilizzare all’uso delle parole gentili per accrescere il benessere della comunità.
E’ stato protagonista dei Giochi nazionali della Gentilezza, che hanno interessato 10mila bambini e i nonni. Si sono sfidati in giochi dedicati alla gentilezza. Ha avuto declinazioni nello sport. Il primo alfabeto della gentilezza nello sport è stato compilato da Silvia Salis, Vicepresidente Vicario del Coni e ha poi generato esempi nel calcio come la Feralpisalò, club che milita in Serie C, che ha dato vita ad un proprio alfabeto della gentilezza e legato le parole a gesti concreti come alla A la parola Accoglienza o la I di inclusione sono diventati progetti.
Dall’alfabeto della gentilezza, come un ramo di uno stesso albero, è nato anche il Premio “Costruiamo Gentilezza nello sport”, ideato dall’Associazione Costruiamo Gentilezza di Luca Nardi e Ussi, il Gruppo di Giornalisti sportivi Toscani. Valorizza iniziative che legano lo sport al cuore. Il riconoscimento è andato a Guglielmo Vicario, portiere dell’Empoli calcio, che ha vestito l’azzurro della Nazionale, per il suo gesto del cuore. Ha accolto una famiglia fuggita dalle atrocità della guerra, ospitandola a casa. Un’accoglienza che continua anche oggi.
Dalla nascita, il progetto, in poco più di 400 giorni, ha generato oltre 20mila parole gentili, che poi sono diventate parole che sono state appese in luoghi frequentati: dalle scuole, alle università, alle società sportive. Tra le parole più utilizzate dai bambini negli alfabeti hanno trovato posto anche Grazie, Scusa, Pace e Tenerezza. Parole, che sempre più raramente, trovano posto nel mondo.

What is kindness? I asked the children, in the library, one morning at a "kindness" class, in a library in a town near my city, Florence. "Kindness is a boomerang because it comes and goes." A smile and a phrase that go straight to the heart and convey the sense of the strength of kindness. Words that a little girl left me and that I carry with me every day and that accompany an idea that has become a project. Why not read and donate words that make both the writer and the recipient feel good?
From this reflection, on October 2, 2021, on Grandparents Day, the alphabet of kindness was born. It starts with girls and boys.
It is a project that sees kindness as a game: each letter of the alphabet is associated with the initial of a beautiful word that nurtures kindness within the community, for example Hug, Kiss, Caress, etc. The goal is to raise awareness of the use of kind words to increase the well-being of the community.
He was the protagonist of the national Kindness Games, which involved 10,000 children and grandparents. They challenged each other in games dedicated to kindness. It has had declinations in sport. The first alphabet of kindness in sport was compiled by Silvia Salis, Senior Vice President of Coni and then generated examples in football such as Feralpisalò, a club that plays in Serie C, which gave life to its own alphabet of kindness and linked the words to concrete gestures such as the A the word Welcome or the I for inclusion have become projects.
From the alphabet of kindness, like a branch of the same tree, the "We build kindness in sport" award was also born, conceived by the Associazione Costruiamo Gentilezza of Luca Nardi and Ussi, the group of Tuscan sports journalists. It enhances initiatives that link sport to the heart. The recognition went to Guglielmo Vicario, goalkeeper of Empoli football, who wore the blue of the national team, for his heartfelt gesture. He welcomed a family fleeing the atrocities of war, hosting them at home. A welcome that continues today.
Since its inception, the project, in just over 400 days, has generated over 20,000 kind words, which then became words that were hung in popular places: from schools to universities and sports clubs. Thanks, Sorry, Peace and Tenderness have also found a place among the words most used by children in the alphabets. Words, which increasingly rarely find a place in the world.
